These days there are numerous threats and dangers that can bring potential harm and damage to businesses around the country. As scary and discomforting as that is, it is important that we continue to carry out our lives and work with peace of mind. For this reason, it is so important to have some sort of plan or preparations in mind for worst case scenarios. Having resources and practices in place will help you protect yourself and others, and potentially reduce the negatives outcomes of a variety of emergency incidents.
Ask yourself, does your organization currently have an updated action plan for emergencies? If so, when was the last time it was reviewed and tested by the organization through drills and run throughts?
If you do not currently have an action/resource plan, click here for a sample template by the Center for Disease Control.
The goal of this plan is to speed up the action and response process from a range of incidents such as bomb threats, natural disasters, chemical spills etc. Taking the time to complete an action plan, ensures that individuals critical to the plan are certified (First Aid, CPR, AED) and training is updated and ongoing.
